A mongo-licious birthday

Yep, today is my birthday.  Heres how it went down...

12am - Liz and Erin watching 90210 in Lizzies bed under the doona as the government heating is now officially switched off.

12.15am - phone call from Thailand.  Happy tears.

Sleep...need to keep those wrinkles at bay right??

wake up (at an undisclosed time...but lets just say Ben and Karina had time to sleep in and fit in a workout at the pool).  Hello sunshine...UB turns up the thermostat and gives the birthday girl a beautiful temperature of 26 degrees.  Not bad considering there was rain, hail and snow the previous week.

Liz and I head to my chosen Thai restaurant and order up a smorgasboard of Thai eats.  The swim team joins us.  We feast - actually for a while we don't even speak we just all shovel the delicious food into our mouths.  I'd like to say its a sign of the fab fours deep friendship that we can be so comfortable in silence but the truth is we just all love to eat.  A small part of me wishes I was sitting in Phuket at a little dingy roadside restaurant chowing down on fresh papaya salad and prawns but that was last year...and I can honestly say I am happy to be land locked in the country I have come to adore.

After lunch it was ice creams and internet action to catch up on all the lovely messages everyone sent through.  Well wishes from all corners of the globe made my heart melt and reminded me how lucky I have been to have met so many amazing people over the years.  A little skype date with my sister and mother was also a high light.

In the afternoon Meghan and I trawled the local basketball courts trying to find some space to have a run around a shoot a few with my shiny new birthday basketball...all we found were groups of teenage boys wanting to get us on their teams.  I've learnt that carrying a basketball around UB is the equivalent of a man carrying a puppy or baby...absolute magnet for the opposite sex.  Anyway court time led to girl talk which is always more fun anyway!

Dinner was spent devouring an Indian feast with a few close friends and a man in uniform.  What more could a girl ask for...well actually...I asked for karaoke and a chocolate mud cake and that was delivered also.
